WE ARE HUMANITY - Drawing Series in progress for an upcoming Installation during the 2022 Venice Biennale
The “Humanity” series originated as part of the conceptual development for the large-scale installation “We Are Humanity” showcased at the Venice Biennale in 2019. This immersive creation, a response to the global refugee crisis driven by war, famine, natural disasters, socio- economic shifts, radical climate change, and political discordance, aims to address and highlight the escalating power struggles, political trends, inequality, and destruction.
The drawings, featuring eyes and hands as the windows to our souls, are magnified to a superhuman scale, drawing viewers in through their sheer size. This amplification elicits a powerful emotional response, adding a crucial element to the exhibition: the human connection. In the face of current challenges, we are compelled to reevaluate our existence, demanding substantial reform and reexamination. The world’s current state propels us toward the precipice of a monumental humanitarian crisis—the potential loss of our humanity and environment as we know them. Despite these challenges, it is a pivotal moment that requires courage to reflect and redefine our collective future on this planet.
